SimpleCAD2 App Reviews
Great Value!
Reminescent of older drawing programs but extremely useful 2D program. What I like about it is the control I have over scaling and being able to enter very precise measurements with direct coordinate entry. A little clunky but I find it very useful and an incredible value. I have used it on my house remodel. So far a complex driveway remodel and now master bedroom/bath layouts. Could use beginner videos and a full help manual for most people. JHS
Miserable file type
It's functioning but ended up with a file type *.aadx which poorly supported by mainstream CAD softwares. The work you have done cannot be exported as *.dwg or *.dxf files which means you may need to start over on another app.
Ok
Decent program. Some of the key sequences are not typical for Mac or Windows. Really my biggest compliant is the UI is fixed size and doesn’t scale correctly. So I need to use my reading glasses to see objects or commands to select. Moving objects is UNNECESSARILY complex and not how any other Mac app works
it good option apps but..
It good option apps for use with MAC becuse I dont what happen to CAD that is not avible for Apple, but this is a one solution.

It's ok
Easy to Use, Does What I Need, and Free!
All I was looking for was a simple vector drawing app that would allow me to create transparency labels for electronic equipment prototype front panels, with rotory switches, variable resistors, indicators, and jacks, etc., and this app came through. It has X and Y ruler bars, arbitrary rotation of objects and text, dimension and angle overlays, mirroring, flipping, object grouping, flexible grid snapping, and a long list of features that I was surprised to find in a free app. Fairly easy learning curve for anyone who's used vector-based drawing tools. Supports Mac Magic Trackpad zoom gestures. Altogether pretty intuitive. Certainly worth the price: Free!
Excelent Cad app
I have searched for 5 years since i switched over to Mac for a cad program that worked like my windows cad program. I wasted 100's of dollars on programs and this one nailed it!! I highly recomend this app if you are a regualar cad user it's like working on cad with my windows machine.
SimpleCAD2 review
As a retired longtime Cadkey, Autocad, Pro-E user this was very easy to pick up and use. Works very well for simple layouts and drawings. Dimensioning could use some work though...not very intuitive.
Piece of Crap
The author uses terms he does not define. I spent two hours trying to figure out how to copy a line and paste it to a new location. This required me to know what "base point" and "offset" mean. I entered those words into the help, and what do you know, they are not even listed in the help. I found references to these terms in all on-line help but not definitions. When I tried to make a line longer, the program simply deleted the line. Avoid at all costs.
Update is vaporware
I upgraded the program. None of the basic functions are enabled as promised. Basic functions such as draw a simple straight horizontal line or messure a simple two line angle are not functional. None of these very basic drawing function are listed in the menus. Please refund my purchase.
review
Seems to have good functionality. Some of the functions are no so intuative and since the free version is not very useful you end up paying for the upgrade however it's still a good value.
Not a bad program for a beginner
It can be challenging to get started, but for an individual with no CAD experience, I think it's a good place to start. The layout is simple and it's relatively easy to navigate.
Tech Person
I had worked with AutoCAD for years and Solidworks, I was skeptical at first though after working with the program it was very intuitive and user friendly. The Programs price is perfect for the classroom and the basic principles of the shortcut keys were very similar to what students would expect in industry.
Not exactly robust
OK, I sprung for the full version; I mean, 20 bucks for a CAD app? As they say, you get what you pay for. Too many things are not very "Mac" like. Much room for improvement.
Counterintuitive tool
There is something simple about this. Perhaps some tutorial would be start.
Few feature of upgrade worth the hassle
This is a poorly implemented upgrade (more like an update) to a previously, mostly functional SimpleCad, first version. Poor attention to detail include the apps inability to switch color palates when switching layers without first selecting an object previously created in that layer with the desired colors. Preferences must be reset upon loading and grid is dashed (difficult to follow) rather than continuous lines. Settings for major and minor gridlines SHOULD be fully adjustable by the user but apparently the programmer's lack of foresight makes defining the grid challenging at times. Will continue to use first version until the developer can mature this program to equal stature of the initial SimpleCad. This is a perfect example of creating an update in a hurry and not engaging beta users to fully test functionality and, quite honestly, reasonable utility of the software. Shame...
Bad App
I just paid $20 for an app that I can't figure out how to use. There's no tutorial to watch to get you started. There's supposed to be an add objects floating window, but I can't find it.
